NRC Response to Pakistan/India Conflict
After Pastor Hanook Iqbal, our National Overseer in Pakistan, alerted us to the recent attacks by India, I felt a deep urgency to seek wisdom and spiritual understanding regarding the unfolding events. It is crucial that we engage in informed intercession, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our prayers and actions as we navigate this complex situation.
ABRIDGED OVERVIEW OF THE CONFLICT
The current conflict between India and Pakistan escalated following a militant attack on April 22, 2025, in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily tourists. India attributed the attack to Pakistan-based militant groups, leading to heightened tensions. In retaliation, India launched "Operation Sindoor" on May 6, 2025, conducting military strikes against nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This operation resulted in significant casualties, with reports of at least 26 deaths and numerous injuries in Pakistan. The Pakistani government condemned the strikes as an "act of aggression," vowing to respond decisively. The situation remains volatile, with fears of further escalation given the nuclear capabilities of both nations.
THE CHURCH'S ROLE
As the Nations Restoration Church, with a presence in both India and Pakistan, we are called to be peacemakers in this challenging time. I want to emphasize the importance of embodying Christ's love and compassion, advocating for peace, and promoting reconciliation rather than division. We recognize the complexities of the situation but are committed to adopting a neutral position that reflects the heart of Christ, focusing on healing and unity rather than taking sides.
RALLYING BELIEVERS
I urge all believers to come together in prayer and action, embodying the principles of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. As followers of Christ, we are called to be ambassadors of peace, fostering understanding and compassion among our communities.
